Overview
Part of an entire line of iOS games built around physical accessories that extended gameplay beyond the screen, this app was designed for preschool children. Interaction was a blend of touch input and physical play — children inserted branded cards into a companion station, combining the tactile experience of a toy with the engagement of a mobile game. I collaborated with my internal team to bring the app and accessory experience together as a cohesive product.
My Role
- UX Design — User flows, wireframes, and information architecture tailored for a preschool audience
- Interaction Design — Defining how touch and physical card input worked together within the gameplay
- Visual Design — UI controls, final artwork, and gameplay animations built within brand guidelines
Process
Discovery & Experience Design
I worked closely with the brand team, product owner, and stakeholders to define the right user experience for young children — an audience that demands simple, forgiving interaction patterns and immediate visual feedback. User flows and wireframes were used to map the gameplay structure and information architecture before moving into visual design.
Visual & Interaction Design
With the structure in place, I designed high-fidelity UI mockups and gameplay animations, crafting all UI controls within the client’s established branding guidelines. The challenge was balancing the brand’s visual identity with the accessibility and delight needed to engage preschoolers. Final artwork was prepared and delivered to the offshore development team, along with supporting assets for marketing efforts.
