Overview
This next-generation space products and services company is transforming how satellites are built, launched, and operated. With three wholly-owned subsidiaries each running their own web presence, they needed a unified site that brought all three under a single, cohesive branded entity — simplifying their story for prospects and partners alike.
My Role
- UX Design — User flows, wireframes, and UI prototypes to define the experience
- Interaction Design — Navigation patterns and interactions across a multi-subsidiary structure
- Information Architecture — Consolidating three separate site structures into one logical hierarchy
- Project Management — Coordinating stakeholders, product owner, and offshore development team
- Front-end Development — HTML, CSS edits and content implementation throughout the build
Process
Discovery & Information Architecture
Working alongside the stakeholders, product owner, and my team, I used user flows, wireframes, and interactive UI prototypes to work through the information architecture. Merging three subsidiary sites meant reconciling different audiences, content priorities, and brand voices into a unified structure — an iterative process that required close collaboration to reach consensus.
Design Direction
I directed the design of the user interface and UI controls, ensuring the final product projected the credibility and innovation the brand required. The visual direction needed to feel appropriately aspirational for a company operating in the space industry while remaining accessible to a range of enterprise buyers.
Development & Launch
A WordPress CMS was implemented so the client could manage content updates independently going forward. I directed the offshore development team throughout the build, making direct HTML, CSS, and content edits to maintain design fidelity. Before launch, I performed full quality control and testing, coordinating with the developers on all required revisions. I then trained the client on the backend administration and provided ongoing post-launch support for content and design updates.
